Just for Fun

Sometimes I stumble across sites that don't fall into any particular category. I find some really fun sites and thought I would share them here.

Etchy - online Etch-O-Sketch

TimeTube - a mashup of a timeline program and YouTube. Search for any topic and it creates a timeline of events connecting the videos by date.

Blabberize - Upload a picture, record your voice, and select the area of the picture you want to animate to move to the sound of the voice. Great tool for use with historical images. Have students create the "voice" of the character. Also let's you record through the phone.

Scrapblog - Why make a Power Point again? Why not make a photo-scrapblog? Easy to use and create your own online photo sharing story.

Bananas over Texas - the complete project of putting a geosynchronous banana in orbit

http://toondoo.com - Create and share your own paneled cartoon.

http://truemors.com/ - Truemors - news from the web

http://www.sandlotscience.com/Illusion_Jump_Main/Master_Jump.htm - I used to use this my first week of teaching in all my classes. Sandlot Science provides interactive illusion pages that I used to teach my students that it was okay to look at things with different perspectives. We looked into right brain vs. left brain and perspective approaches using these tools. It was fun and a great launchpad of discussion for our class. Click on Optical Illusions in the top left corner to begin.

http://twittervision.com/ - The answer to the age-old question “what are you doing right now?” answered on a giant Google Map. Its fun to watch as people answer that question all over the world. You watch the

popups occur in the regions where they answer from.
